Why I Started Mountain View Retreat

My own experience with addiction and recovery inspired me to start Mountain View Retreat. I wanted to create a place where treatment came with connection, compassion, and a community people could count on.

I had a vision of a community, not a facility. That idea continues to guide Mountain View: personal care, genuine support, and a place where people can find hope and a sense of belonging.

I went through MVR three years ago, right when the program was first getting started. In fact, I was their very first student. They gave me a scholarship to go through the program for free, and for that first month, I was the only student there. They were building something new, working through the kinks and getting the program off the ground—but you would have never known it from the way they treated me.
They ran that program for me like I was the only person in the world who mattered. And technically, I guess I was the only student at the time. But what I mean is that they had everything in place to help me. They invested their time, energy, resources, and hearts into me. I walked into that program one way and came out another, and I can honestly say my life was completely turned around because of it.
But what really tells you who Kevin and the people at MVR are is what happened after I left.
They didn't help me once and then forget about me. I've stayed connected with them over the years, and when addiction found its way back into my life, they were still there.
Last summer, when I found myself struggling again with substance, they told me that if I needed to come back through the program, they would find a way to get me in. Now, three years after I originally went through MVR, I'm facing another battle with addiction—this time with an opioid—and once again, Kevin and the people at MVR are trying to help me find a way into detox with the help of their team and Medicaid.
That means something to me.
Kevin is the kind of person who would give his last anything to somebody if he believed it could help save their life. I've experienced that personally, not just once, but over the course of years.
MVR has resources, connections, and a team capable of working with people who are coming in at some of the lowest and most broken points of their lives. But they'll also tell you the truth: they can't make the decision for you. You have to be ready to participate in changing your own life. If you are, these are people who will stand beside you and do everything they reasonably can to help you get there.
I will always be thankful for what this program did for me three years ago, but I'm even more thankful that their care for me didn't end when the program did.
I'm not writing this as somebody who went through MVR, got a certificate, and disappeared. I'm writing it as somebody whose life has continued to have ups and downs, who has struggled again, and who has found these same people still willing to answer the phone and help me find a way forward.
Kevin and the staff at MVR gave me something when I needed it most, and years later they're still showing me that what they did wasn't just about running a program. They genuinely care about people.

For that, Ill Always be thankful.

MVR is absolutely incredible. The amount of professional care balanced so immaculately with space for self-discovery and soul-healing FUN (in recovery!?!) is inspiring, appreciated, and admired. The crew running the ship is aces and the dogs onsite are beyond description and oh so good for morale. I was very blessed to have found MVR and will forever be changed for the better thanks to the team at Mountain View and their authentic desire to be a force of positivity and HOPE in this wild world.

Exceptional treatment program. If you want experience true recovery in action. Then MVR is the opportunity for you. The moment you arrive you feel a sense of relief and purpose. The entire staff is driven by their own accomplishments in recovery and it shows! The feeling of belonging starts with 5star meals prepared by a chef strait to table and always better than your last meal. Time and time again. The clinical staff are all in recovery and forward their experience, strength and hope in a personal manner. Classes are small and quant with one on one sessions available when needed. As there is an open door policy. The owner even encourages one on ones personally giving his contact information. If you want RECOVERY call NOW! You won’t be disappointed.
PS. Queen and king size beds!

Though I have not been here myself as its currently a men's only facility, i am well acquainted with many of their staff within the sober community . I cant say enough good about the owners and their staff as a whole. These hard working dedicated Individuals are providing a truly life changing experience for men struggling with addiction. Their methods honor all paths to recovery with a strong focus on total abstinence. If you or a loved one are struggling, this is the place to heal. I highly recommend, 10/10!

This is by far the Best treatment facility that I have ever been to. The staff at MVR is amazing and extremely caring. The curriculum is by far the best that I have ever seen, I have learned a lot by the group sessions, and the one on one sessions are very specific and tailored to personal needs. The housing is amazing as well, the amenities are the best that I have ever seen, and they try to make sure that there weekend are enjoyable as well. The staff at housing is very welcoming and is willing to help you around the clocks as well. This is the ONLY facility that I have ever been in where the owner himself cares about everyone to the point that he is personally involved in making sure that everything is being done to make sure that everyone is taken care of and succeeds. Very well done MVR, thank you for All of your help, and the life lessons that you have taught me. I truly do not believe that I would have the success that I do today had I gone to any other program. You are all amazing!!!

This program has been truly a life changing experience. Thanks from Kevin Tighe, Eva, Chris, Kat, Jolene, Stew, Mark, the Izzy’s and everyone involved in this program here. I was given the time and resources to change my life in such a drastic way that the man that walked in these doors is not the man who I am today. It has truly been a life altering experience and I’m extremely grateful for this program and the people involved. They believed in me when no one else did and taught me to see what they saw.
